Liturgy Canada (liturgy.ca) is offering a one day conference called 'Rediscovering Liturgy' on Saturday November 5 at Renison University College in Waterloo (see flyer below). The hope of the day is to inspire and energize all ministers in the liturgy with a vision of good liturgy centred in a vital experience of word and sacrament. So that this task doesn’t fall to clergy alone, parish teams are encouraged to attend. There will be opportunities for you to reflect and share with one another some new strategies for enabling genuine encounter with God in the liturgy, in an environment of open exploration of our liturgical heritage. It is hoped that this will be the first of an ongoing series of events.
Liturgy Canada is an ecumenical society of women and men, Lutheran and Anglican, lay and ordained persons, committed to the ongoing renewal of the Church in worship and mission. Members of our Diocese serving on their Executive include Mr Ken Hull, The Rev. Lynn Mitchell and The Rev. Canon Stephen Harnadek. Many other clergy and lay in our Diocese are members of this organization. The ministry of Liturgy Canada, reflected in this proposed day, is to provide resources which focus the debate, inform our practice and evaluate our experience for worship of God in the Church today. This day is being developed along with the Renison Institute of Ministry (renison.uwaterloo.ca/institute-ministry/) and The Kanata Centre for Worship and Global Song, affiliated with Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (seminary.wlu.ca ). Bishops from the ELCIC Eastern Synod, the Anglican Dioceses of Huron, Toronto and Niagara are all encouraging some of their parishes to attend this day and enter this conversation. Your collective feedback will be shared with all the Bishops.
I hope that some of your parish could take some valuable time to attend this event. If finances are an issue that might cause you not to attend, please contact my office.
If you have any questions regarding the day, please direct them to Canon Harnadek (519.969.1510, sharnadek@cogeco.ca). +Bob +Terry
