Please find below a statement from our Diocesan Bishop which you are invited to share with your parishioners through bulletins, social media and other avenues.
Attached is a picture of Bishop Bob praying as he asks us all to do.
The last two days have been difficult ones in the life of our nation and particularly for the friends and families of the two soldiers who have been killed. We pray for the repose of the souls of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and for their families as they mourn.
We give thanks for all those--military and police---who risk and sacrifice much for our safety and offer them our prayers and support.
We also pray for the souls of those who committed these acts and for their families who are grappling with this reality.
It is important at such a time not to allow our fear to overwhelm us. Canada remains a very safe country in which we are privileged to live. It is even more important that fear does not lead us to distrust others, especially those of the Islamic faith. These terrorists do not represent accurately the beliefs of faithful Muslims. Please keep our Muslim brothers and sisters in your prayers. Remember that God is to be found in the richness of our diversity.
"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.“
