The Right Rev. Bishop Linda Nicholls was welcomed to the Anglican Diocese of Huron as its coadjutor bishop on Saturday, April 16 with a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
The service of celebration and welcoming was attended by a large number of faithful. The celebrant was the Right Rev. Bishop Robert Bennett, the diocesan bishop of Huron who officially welcomed Bishop Linda Nicholls to the Huron family.
Addressing the gathered at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Bishop Linda expressed her thanks for a privilege to be called to serve in the Diocese of Huron.
The service was followed by a light reception in the Cathedral’s Great Hall.
Linda Nicholls was elected coadjutor bishop in February as the first woman bishop in Huron and also as the first bishop from outside the diocese since 1931. She will become the diocesan bishop when Bishop Robert Bennett retires. Prior to the election Linda Nicholls served as the area bishop of Trent-Durham and bishop suffragan for the Diocese of Toronto.
