Bishops’ Announcements for the week of Monday, August 29th, 2016

1.      MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Bishop Bob’s retirement dinner:    Save the date!!  On Friday, October 14th in the evening we will be having a retirement celebration for Bishop Bob Bennett at the London Convention Centre.  All are invited to attend. Further details will be forthcoming shortly.

2.      Bishop Bennett has accepted the wish of the Reverend Canon Norman Casey to retire effective December 31, 2016 with his last Sunday in the parish being  November 27, 2016.  Canon Norm was deaconed on May 25, 2000 and priested on December 7th of the same year.  He has served as the Chaplain to the Mohawk Chapel,   Honorary Assistant at Holy Trinity with St. David’s, Brantford, Honorary Assistant at Grace Church, Brantford and as the Rector of the Parish of Six Nations (St. Peter’s, Oshweken, St. Paul’s, Sour Springs St. Luke’s, Oshweken and St. John’s, Oshweken), the parish from which he retires.  Canon Norm has served as a Chaplain to Clergy Families, a Fresh Start facilitator, a member of the Bishop’s Clergy Conference Planning committee, LAIC (Lenni-Lenapi, Algonkian, Iroquoian Council) and as co-chair of the Anglican Council of Indigenous People (ACIP).  He was named a Canon of the Cathedral on May 24, 2015.  He will be honoured with the other retirees at Synod 2017.

3.      On behalf of Bishop Bennett, the Ven. Janet Griffith Clarke will induct the Rev’d Mary Farmer as Rector of the Parish of Long Point Bay at St. John’s, Port Rowan (44 Front Road, Port Rowan on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 7pm.  The Rev’d Rosalyn Elm will be the preacher.   There will be a reception following the service in the Parish Hall – please RSVP to Rev’d Mary Farmer 519-586-3401.  Clergy are invited to vest the colour being white.

4.      Bishop Bob Bennett will collate the Venerable Greg Jenkins as Archdeacon of Waterloo on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, The Feast of the Holy Cross,  at 7pm at Trinity Church, 12 Blair Rd, Cambridge.  The preacher will be the Reverend Ray Jenkins. A reception will follow the service.  Clergy are invited to vest, the colour being red.    

5.      On behalf of Bishop Bennett, the Ven. Janet Griffith Clarke will induct the Rev’d Osita Oluigbo as Rector of St. John’s, Tillsonburg (46 Ridout Street West, Tillsonburg) on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 7pm.  The Rev’d Dr. Stephen Hendry will be the preacher.   Further details will follow in upcoming announcements.  Clergy are invited to vest the colour being white.
